Object Photography
This was not exactly a project as it was an activity. This assignment required us to bring an object from home that could fit inside a small box. Some people brought in a stuffed animal or piece of furniture. I brought a model car I remember constructing. The model was not in the best of shape obviously, but that did not stop me from continuing taking photos.
Vanguard Demon
When I was starting this illustration, I wanted to figure out what it was I wanted to draw. I enjoy playing video games a lot, thus I knew that I wanted to draw something from the Demon’s Souls or Dark Souls series because I enjoyed playing those games. I liked some of the character designs even if they were sometimes plain and simple. So I chose this character, the Vanguard Demon. This demon was the first boss you faced after learning the basic controls and you could fight him later on if you failed the first attempt (which always happens to most beginners). The process of drawing this character involved me studying a screenshot from within game. His pose I had to break down to understand where the shoulders were and so on. After ‘breaking him apart’, I redrew him by hand. I colored him in too and gave him some surprisingly decent coloring, which I rarely do when drawing because I know that I am currently unable to color effectively.
Evolution of Parallelograms
This poster was created as a final product to an assignment Mr. Chapman gave our class. The assignment was about creating posters to show newcomers or visitors of New Tech what it means, which varies from the artists. To me, agency is the ability to take skills and improve upon them while learning new ones on the way. The poster I created shows agency because it was a unique take on what exhibits agency. I originally wanted to create a photo timeline but it proved to be too time consuming plus it wouldn’t capture what New Tech was about. Instead, I used a skill I learned from Visual Communications. I turned the purple parallelogram into a pattern, which I took screenshots of every major step. This shows shows agency because the parallelogram improves and takes a ‘different’ shape each shot, just as a person does when improving and learning. However, the expansion and intricate changes of designs do not radically change the parallelogram just as learning and improving does not change who the person is.
